Joe Brown has been an artist all his life. In grade school, pirates and comic books were his subjects of interest, but sadly he practiced very little art through middle and high school, only to rediscover it in college. At Pima Community College he studied digital art, where he won two ADDY awards in 2006. One of the pieces won a Gold locally, a silver regionally and competed nationally. After three and a half years in Junior College, he transferred to the University of Arizona, VisCom: Illustration program and became famously known as Joe Bro. He got into the VisCom annual show every year he attended, winning a silver award and juror's pick award in 2009. He has interned with a local sculptor and learned the trade of stone sculpting, which he still pursues. He was published in University of Arizona's Persona Magazine in 2010, where he also showed in the BFA Senior show in The University of Arizona Student Union Gallery and at the Lulubell Toy Bodega. In 2011, he wrote and illustrated his first book, "How to Catch a Ghost," that can be purchased through https://www.createspace.com/3702914. He has also received an Outstanding Senior Award and is continuing to create art and stories geared towards children.
