Some Things on the Horizon

Well, It's getting to be that nutty time of year where we cram our gullets full of delicious, fattening sweets forcing us to make resolutions in the new year to lose weight. Luckily, My gym membership is in full effect and I'm not feeling too terrrible about my waistline.

I've been busily at work drawing, watercoloring and photographing getting to the point of a total, self-sustaining flow of creativity. This newish avenue of photography has been taken to a new level that I didn't expect. My wonderful and beautiful partner, Stephanie, and I are starting a photography business. She has seemingly unlimited amounts of knowledge on the subject that I continue to learn and take notes from her constantly. You need to see her website, http://www.stephephotography.com. I've noticed also how photography has also helped put a frame around what I see in my brain. My compostition has improved greatly. I highly encourage aspiring illustrators to also snap some shots on camera and always be conscious of how the eye is being led within a confined space.

Another thing that's coming your way via my hand is another book that will exposé fantasy artists in the southwest. I've been designing different dragons and scenes, one of which will envolve a desert and some dragon bones. Right now at my fancy watercolor station (fancy= two television trays) I am working on a Jaberwocky with shrunk Alice standing up to him. Also, disregard the Alice depicted down below...

That is poor Mad Hatter getting squished...

The book is finally here!!!

Hello beautiful people! Just wishing you a wonderful and everything. I want you to know that I've finished my first book and is available to purchase through https://www.createspace.com/3702914. It will also be up on Amazon.com in about a week or so. It feels so rewarding to have a physical copy of something that I solely created. It legitimizes and validates why I do this. I would definitely recommend it!

Happy Festivus!

As the year winds down, I find myself getting more and more energized about my art! My children's comic, "How to Catch a Ghost," is going to be complete by the end of the year, well, the pencils anyway. Then comes the really fun part, inking! I can't wait to see the end result. Thank you to my fans, family and friends. Be safe and I'll get some new stuff up for you to see soon!

Encaustics!

I have begun a new venture into the abstract. With this new venture I have been playing a lot with encaustics. For those of you that don't know what the heck an encaustic is: it's wax and pigment, basically. It makes me work quickly because it dries almost immediately and the natural use of it lends nicely to abstract art, which makes my brain work to deliver a message in a very different manner. I love this new medium almost as much as watercolors! Well, almost. Also, I'll be entering a juried show and will hopefully get a few pieces in.

I'll have some images up soon!
